Mythical Woods

  • Google Calendar ICS

ART from HEART and The Stanton Guildhouse Trust proudly present Mythical Woods, a multimedia group art exhibition Celebrating the Woodlands and its enchanted stories and myths!

For centuries, the woodlands have inspired humankind and served as the backdrop for numerous intriguing and fascinating stories in mythology, folklore, and popular fiction in various cultures around the world. They portray the wilderness as a place of ambiguity, where good and evil are a matter of perspective.

Mythical Woods possess power and agency.  They are often viewed as an environment of opportunity and adventure beyond human control. They represent life, freedom, wildness, growth, and rebirth, but also signify danger, risk, and the hope of survival.

The 25 participating Artists have been inspired by the woodlands, drawing on its symbolism, or its multiple connotations while bringing us closer to nature. Their interpretations of the theme are as varied as their mediums, including drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, paper book, mosaics and ceramics.

The Exhibition was Organised and Curated by ART from HEART in partnership with The Stanton Guildhouse Trust.

Memory and Identity

  • Google Calendar ICS

Online show studying memory.

According to John Locke (English philosopher and physician), a person's identity only reaches as far as their memory extends into the past. In other words, who one is critically depends upon what one remembers. Thus, as a person's memory begins to disappear, so does their identity.

Studio Fridays has proved itself to be inspirational, with many artists winning distinguished art prizes and being selected to exhibit at some of the most prestigious London galleries.’

Pulling Back the Curtain

Ukrainian-British artist Natalia Millman fearlessly explores uncomfortable and very personal subjects—dementia, aging, death, grief, and guilt—in her multi-media and installation artwork. Fueled by the painful loss of her father, her work represents a courageous expose of an often-shunned disease that wreaks devastating damage on individuals and their families. Natalia’s artwork reflects her in-depth investigation of dementia’s effects on the structures of the brain responsible for language, memory, and consciousness. She also wishes to shift the tragedy narrative to one of healing and hope in this no-holds-barred investigation of a traumatic disease.
